We have been growing mussels in the
cold, pristine waters of Puget Sound since 1981.
Kamilche Sea Farms is located on
Totten Inlet, a bay long famous for it’s outstanding
shellfish productivity. Much of the Pacific Northwest oyster
and most of its Manila clam production comes from this inlet
and adjoining bays.
Grown with Tender Loving Care…
In 1986 we began specializing in the
culture of the premium Mediterranean Mussel (Mytilus
galloprovincialis). These mussels are grown by suspended
culture from long lines and rafts in the deep waters of the
bay. Grown inside lantern nets, they have a round-the-clock
food supply. This results in a plump, even-sized mussel that
grows to market size in less than a year. The shell is clean
and lustrous, the meat is free of sand and grit with a firm
texture and sweet, delicate taste.
Kamilche Mediterranean mussels are
carefully sorted and packaged to ensure a high quality
product with a long shelf life. We take pride in ensuring a
nearly year round supply of these fine mussels to our
customers.
