A Classic Steamed Mussels Recipe

Rinse 1 lb. of mussels per person and pull byssus threads.  Put in a large pot with 1/4 cup white wind per 2 lbs. of mussels.  Steam until opened, about 5-7 minutes.  Dip into butter and garlic sauce.

Variations:  Herbs such as oregano, chives, parsley or dill may be steamed with the mussels.  Any of these herbs are delightful in butter and garlic sauce.

Broccoli rabe is delicious, and here is a great way to use it. In this recipe broccoli rabe is combined with anchovy fillets, yellow potatoes, garlic, and mussels for a lovely Mediterranean-style stew.
